The selected nurse will be responsible for receiving patients into the ward, checking identification and orders, recording baseline vitals, understanding the diagnosis and treatment plan, and maintaining accurate nursing notes throughout the shift. The role includes administering oral medicines, injections, IV fluids, nebulisation, wound care, pre-procedure preparation, post-procedure observation, and escalation of changes such as fever, pain, breathlessness, confusion, fall risk, or abnormal vitals. The nurse must follow medication protocols carefully, confirm dosage and timing, document administration, and coordinate with the pharmacy and duty doctor whenever clarification is needed.
The position also involves patient and family communication. The nurse will explain basic care instructions, diet guidance, mobility support, hygiene requirements, visiting rules, discharge instructions, and warning signs that need urgent attention. The nurse should maintain infection-control practices including hand hygiene, PPE use, biomedical waste segregation, equipment cleaning, safe linen handling, and isolation precautions when required.
